Additional title: Translation technologies in researchers' training
Date: 2018
Abstract: Translation technologies are part of professional practice. Translation degree programs already include computer-aided systems as well as machine translation systems. Masters' and PhD students approach translation technologies with a double purpose: to understand and to master translation tools like a professional, and to use them as an instrument to collect research data. However, the competencies that trainee researchers should acquire and the types of tools with which they should get familiarized still need to be specified. The aims of this paper are to analyse translation technologies in their dual function as both research object and research tool, to point out the constraints of these programmes when they are used in translation research, and to draw some conclusions on the role of translation technologies in researchers' training.
