Resum:	El régimen de propiedad de la tierra debería ser un elemento básico para cualquier país, trascendiendo lo económico y proyectándose en su organización social y política. La Unidad Económica Agraria (UEA), en la zona del sudoeste bonaerense, duplica el valor modal de la superficie de los predios, coadyuvando a la despoblación rural. El uso del suelo, por otra parte, es vinculante con la calidad de los servicios ecosistémicos y el bienestar humano. Una de las variables críticas del desarrollo agrario descansaen el diseño y promoción de las unidades productivas. Ellas deberán responder a demandas sociales y ambientales, además de las económicas. Dentro de estas perspectivas, es pertinente posicionar el rol de la agricultura en la relación Sociedad -Naturalezay en términos delaEconomía Ecológica. El objetivo del presente trabajo es proponer la Unidad Agrosocial, como superación de la UEA y como sistema alternativo al modelo productivista. Al efecto se integran tres factores básicos que habilitan una sustentabilidad operativa del sistema: escala,buenas prácticasy multifuncionalidad. En Argentina, la nueva figura puede potenciar el ordenamiento territorial y la contribución, del complejo agroalimentario, frente al cambio global.
Resum:	The land ownership regime should be a basic element for any country, transcending economic issues with a projection on its social and political organization. In southwestern Buenos Aires the Agrarian Economic Unit (UEA) duplicates the modal value of the surface area of the farms, which leads to rural depopulation. Land use, on the other hand, is linked to the quality of ecosystem services and human well-being. One of the critical variables of agrarian development lies in the design and promotion of productive units. They must respond to social and environmental demands, in addition to economic ones. Within these perspectives, it is pertinent to position the role of agriculture in the relationship between Society and Nature and in terms of Ecological Economics. The objective of the present work is to propose the Agri-Social unit, as a more fitting concept than the UEA and as an alternative system to the productivist model. To this end, three basic factors: scale,good practices and multifunctionalityare integrated. These enable an operational sustainability of the system. In Argentina, the Agri-SocialUnit can enhance both territorial ordering and the contribution of the agri-food complex to global change.
