Resumen: |
In this third and last paper on the subject of the uses of àv in Sophocles as indicator of potentialis of the past or irrealis, the author shows, in the first part, the cases of àv as indicator of irrealis with the protasis --or, sometimes, the apodosis- not explicitly expressed; and in the second part, the cases of àv as indicator of general potentialis of the past, that is, the cases of àv iterativum. In the third part, we see two dubious cases, perhaps of merely adverbial àv; and in the fourth part, special cases, that is, cases of irrealis without àv in the apodosis or in the dependent final clauses, and also cases of irrealis with àv, but beside the verb in the optative mode, not, as we would expect in such a context, in the indicative mode usual in the post-Homeric age. Finally, two indices, one of the analysed Sophoclean texts and the other of the contents, close the series of three papers. |
