Quelques notes sur la dite Constitution de Chios (ABSA 51, 19565, p. 158, 161, Pl.43 = ML 8)
Araceli Santiago, Rosa

Date: 1995
Abstract: A detailed formal analysis of this document supports its reading as a constitutional compromise between two levels of power: the first one constituting the court of appeal retains the main responsability/authority; the second one plays at least a passive role in the serment before the goddes of the national home. In this text, some more recent traits of the ionian dialect show off in a context of graphic and dialectal archaisms. The aforementioned analysis reveals a political pragmatics strongly coincident to the one suggested by the Chios's inscription about the boundaries of Lophitis (DGE 688).
