Abstract: Planning is an important function of every organization. Since resources are the basis for every activity in an organization, financial planning assures considerable importance. Financial planning in the realm of university administration requires hardly any emphasis. As with every other business enterprise, universities should also effectively plan for the mobilization and utilization of their resources. Taking into consideration the environment and the circumstances under which they are operating, it is imperative for the universities to prepare both long-term and short-term financial plans. This paper discusses the practices of two Indian universities in respect of the nature, objectives, organization and process of financial planning.
