Abstract:	El objetivo principal de este trabajo es analizar la etimología indoeuropea del latín squălus y del griego ασπαλος para retroceder en el tiempo e intentar obtener más información sobre la naturaleza exacta de las palabras involucradas. Asimismo, se discutirán algunos puntos de la «hipótesis nostrática», con el objetivo de intentar mejorar la formulación original hecha por la escuela soviéticaa comienzos de la década de 1960.
Abstract:	The main goal of this paper is to analyse the Indo-European etymology of Latin squălus and Greek ασπαλος in order to go back into the deeper past and try to recover more information about the exact nature of the cognates. In addition, several points of the «Nostratic hypothesis» will be discussed as an attempt to improve the original formulation made by the Moscow School at the beginning of 60s of the 20th century.
