Abstract:	Alexander the Great was religiously both a man of his time and the catalyst for change in the pattern of Greek religious life. He accepted the ubiquity of divine presence in the world and participated actively in the practice of Greek paganism, but he was also imbued with his own importance which evolved over time into a belief in his own divinity. This belief and the desire for such recognition led to the worship of Hellenistic kings as mortal gods.
Abstract:	Desde el punto de vista religioso, Alejandro Magno fue tanto un hombre de su tiempo como el catalizador del cambio en el modelo de la vida religiosa griega. Aceptó la ubicuidad de la presencia divina en el mundo y participó activamente en la práctica del paganismo griego, pero también estaba imbuido de su propia importancia, que evolucionó con el tiempo hacia la creencia en su propia divinidad. Esta creencia y el deseo de tal reconocimiento condujeron al culto de los reyes helenísticos como dioses mortales.
