Resum:	Jerónimo Muñoz, el más importante astrónomo español de la segunda mitad del siglo XVI, dejó numerosos tratados manuscritos. Entre ellos figura una breve questio titulada "Utrum sint plures orbes coelestes necne" y redactada a finales de la década de 1560. En este artículo ofrecemos la primera transcripción de este opúsculo, acompañada de una traducción al español. En la presentación y en las notas a la traducción señalamos la importancia, dentro del debate cosmológico contemporáneo, de este texto, que rechaza la existencia de los orbes o esferas celestes sólidas y postula un cielo de aire, por el que planetas y cometas se mueven "como peces por el agua".
Resum:	Jerónimo Muñoz, the most important Spanish astronomer in the second half of the 16th century, left numerous manuscript treatises. They include a brief questio entitled «Utrum sint plures orbes coelestes necne» written in the late 1560s. In this article, we offer the first transcription of this opuscule, accompanied by an English translation. The presentation and translation notes point to the importance of this text in contemporary cosmological debates by rejecting the existence of the orbs or solid celestial spheres and postulating a sky of air, through which planets and comets move "like fish through water".
