Shaw Brothers, Pu Songling y la eclosión del cine fantástico y de terror en Hong Kong

Resumen:	Este artículo explora la consolidación del cine fantástico en la antigua colonia británica de Hong Kong -actualmente región administrativa especial de la República Popular China- en un período que abarca desde finales de la década de 1950 hasta principios de 1980. El texto analiza en un primer momento la influencia de las creencias religiosas y la literatura clásica, especialmente la obra de Pu Songling, en el cine fantástico de corte tradicional producido hasta mediados de la década de 1970. En este momento se abre camino un cine fantástico más virulento y permeable al cine fantástico occidental, focalizado en su mayor parte en la confrontación entre la magia negra y la magia blanca, que se alargará hasta mediados de la década de 1980. Shaw Brothers, una de las compañías más poderosas de Hong Kong hasta 1985, tuvo un papel determinante en todo este proceso y su influencia es palpable también en al auge posterior de las comedias fantásticas.
Resumen:	This article explores the birth and consolidation of fantastic cinema and horror film in the former British colony of Hong Kong from the late 1950s to the early 1980s. The text first analyzes the influence of religious beliefs and classical literature, especially the work of Pu Songling, in the traditional fantasy cinema produced until the mid-1970s. At this time, a more virulent and westernizing horror genre made its way. It focused for the most part on the confrontation between magic black and white magic. Shaw Brothers, one of the most powerful companies in Hong Kong until 1985, played a determining role first in the consolidation of a large Chinese film industry capable of reaching the entire world; later, in the establishment of a certain aesthetic of artificiality linked to the display of violence; and, finally, in the rise of fantastic comedies and the establishment of Category III for films with a high erotic and violent content.
