Co-creating accessible videos : the Mediaverse CROMA experience

Resumen:	Mediaverse is a European project that aims to develop an innovative ecosystem where creators can share their media content while keeping control of intellectual property rights and monetization. As part of this project, different pilots are taking place in order to show how a cocreation process can be used to different ends: to produce artistic content, to produce journalistic content and to generate 360º interactive content for social inclusion. Within the context of social inclusion, Mediaverse has partnered with the CROMA project at Fundació Autònoma Solidària at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona to implement a project with primary school children in which they have co-created accessible 360º videos. This presentation will focus on such project, which has involved 6 schools close to UAB and a total of 66 children in a vulnerable situation. The project has taken place during the academic year 2021-2022 and the final results are already available. The children have co-created a 360° interactive experience video with the authoring tool Fader and have added different accessibility layers (audio description, subtitling, sign language interpreting). We will describe the project design, the implementation -in which UAB volunteers have taken part-and the main results, which were presented in a dedicated visit of the children at UAB on May 18th, 2022. Results show how co-creation in 360° is a motivating process that fosters social inclusion and also demonstrate how an increased awareness about accessibility has grown in the participants.
