La aportación española al debate sobre la obediencia ciega en la Compañía de Jesús durante el Papado de Sixto V (1585-90)

Resum:	El presente artículo aborda la aportación española al debate que se produjo durante el pontificado de Sixto V (1585-90) sobre la doctrina jesuita de la obediencia ciega y sus implicaciones teológicas y dogmáticas. A partir del análisis de fuentes de archivos españoles e italianos, se desgranan los argumentos críticos contra esta doctrina y la personalidad de sus autores, mayoritariamente conversos. Se avanza después hacia un contexto más amplio insertando estos debates en la difícil coyuntura de aquellos años para la Compañía: la revuelta de los memorialistas españoles, la presión de Felipe II para lograr la visita de la Compañía, la voluntad de Sixto V de controlar más a los jesuitas, el papel de las Inquisiciones española y romana en este juego político. . . Finalmente se analizan las dos vías de solución que se plantearon: los tratados ya conocidos de Roberto Bellarmino sobre la obediencia ciega; y sobre todo, el intento fracasado del padre Ribadeneira de ofrecer la biografía del General Diego Laínez como modelo de obediencia ciega y unidad en aquel contexto crítico. En las conclusiones, se subraya la singularidad de la aportación española y se anota cómo la doctrina de la obediencia ciega, más allá de los límites internos de la Compañía pasó a ser uno de los fundamentos del antijesuitismo.
Resum:	This article deals with the Spanish contribution to the debate that took place during the pontificate of Sixtus V (1585-90) about the Jesuit doctrine of blind obedience and their dogmatic and theological implications. From the analysis of Spanish and Italian archival sources, threshed critical arguments against this doctrine and personality of its authors, mostly conversos. It then moves into a broader context by inserting these debates in the difficult situation of those years for the Society of Jesus: the revolt of the Spanish memorialists, Felipe II pressure to make the visit of the Society, the will of Sixtus V to control more the Jesuits, the role of Spanish and Roman Inquisitions in this political game. . . Finally it analyzes the two-way solution that emerged: known Robert Bellarmine's treaties about blind obedience, and especially the father Ribadeneira's failed attempt to offer to the General Aquaviva the biography of Diego Lainez as a model of blind obedience and unity in this critical context. The conclusions emphasize the uniqueness of the Spanish contribution and note how the doctrine of blind obedience, beyond the internal boundaries of the Company, became one of the foundations of antijesuitism.
