Els «Cants arimaspeus» d'Arísteas de Proconnès i la caiguda dels Zhou occidentals

Abstract:	The fragments of the lost poem known as the Arimaspea,composed by Aristeas of Proconnesus after what seems to have been a long ecstatic, even «shamanistic» journey into the hinterland beyond the Black Sea, constitute the first western source to give us an account of the peoples of Central Eurasia. In this paper we try to relate the westward pressure of Arimaspi and Issedonians, regarded as the origin of the Cimmerian-Scythian migrations, to the downfall of the Chinese Western Zhou dynasty, some hundred years before, after the storm of the Xianyun invasions. We dare to explain both events as resulting from a common background, the rise of nomadic horsemanship in the Asiatic steppe.
