72 p, 12.2 MB Paleocene larger foraminifera from the Pyrenean basin with a recalibration of the Paleocene Shallow Benthic Zones / Serra-Kiel, Josep (Universitat de Barcelona. Departament de Dinàmica de la Terra i de l'Oceà) ; Vicedo, Vicent (Museu de Ciències Naturals de Barcelona. Departament de Paleontologia) ; Baceta Caballero, Juan Ignacio (Universidad del País Vasco. A taxonomic study of the Paleocene larger foraminifera from the Pyrenean basin has led to the description of sixty taxa including two new species: Alveolina korresensis and Valvulineria bacetai. In this work, we present a chronostratigraphic recalibration of the Paleocene Shallow Benthic Zones SBZ 1 to SBZ 4 based on correlation with calcareous nannofossil and planktic foraminifera biozones, all integrated within the stratigraphic framework of Paleocene platform to basin depositional sequences established for the whole Pyrenean domain. Tetrapod diversity in Permian terrestrial ecosystems of southwestern Europe is poorly recorded by bone specimens, but it is better represented by an important tetrapod ichnological record that is relevant to our understanding of vertebrate communities in equatorial Pangaea. [...]

21 p, 5.6 MB A new rodent chronology for the late Neogene of Spain / van Dam, Jan (Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont) ; Pierre, Mein (Université Lyon) ; Garcés, Miguel (Universitat de Barcelona. Departament de Dinàmica de la Terra i de l'Oceà) ; van Balen, Ronald T. (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Department of Earth Sciences) ; Furió Bruno, Marc (Institut Català de Paleontologia Miquel Crusafont) ; Alacalà, Luis (Parque de las Ciencias de Andalucía) ; Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament de Geologia
The number of late Neogene Spanish micromammal-containing continental sections with a correlation to the Geomagnetic Time Scale is steadily growing. Nonetheless, well-calibrated sections with dense micromammal records are still rare, biostratigraphic correlations between basins are not straightforward, and ages of uncalibrated sites are poorly constrained.
