Chromosomal instability (CIN) lies at the core of cancer development leading to aneuploidy, chromosomal copy-number heterogeneity (chr-CNH) and ultimately, unfavorable clinical outcomes. Despite its ubiquity in cancer, the presence of CIN in childhood B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (cB-ALL), the most frequent pediatric cancer showing high frequencies of aneuploidy, remains unknown. Departament d'Enginyeria Electrònica) ; Nafría i Maqueda, Montserrat (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament d'Enginyeria Electrònica) ; Fernandez, Francisco V. (Instituto de Microelectrónica de Sevilla)
The origin of some time-dependent variability phenomena in FET technologies has been attributed to the charge carrier trapping/detrapping activity of individual defects present in devices. Although some models have been presented to describe these phenomena from the so-called defect-centric perspective, limited attention has been paid to the complex process that goes from the experimental data of the phenomena up to the final construction of the model and all its components, specifically the one that pertains to the time constant distribution. Random Telegraph Noise (RTN) and Bias Temperature Instabilities (BTI) are two mechanisms that can significantly reduce the performance and reliability of integrated circuits. In scaled devices, both phenomena are stochastic, so that a statistical analysis is required to accurately evaluate their impact on a particular technology. [...]

Somatic DNA hypomethylation and aneuploidy are hallmarks of cancer, and there is evidence for a causal relationship between them in knockout mice but not in human cancer. The non-mobile pericentromeric repetitive elements SST1 are hypomethylated in about 17% of human colorectal cancers (CRC) with some 5-7% exhibiting strong age-independent demethylation. [...]

The most common oxidative DNA lesion is 8-oxoguanine which is mainly recognized and excised by the 8-oxoG DNA glycosylase 1 (OGG1), initiating the base excision repair (BER) pathway. Telomeres are particularly sensitive to oxidative stress (OS) which disrupts telomere homeostasis triggering genome instability. [...]

This research analyzes how terrorist groups took advantage, focusing especially on Al Qaeda and Daesh (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant), during the Arab Spring in Syria and Yemen. In addition to seeing the impact that the Arab Spring had on the main jihadist organizations and contextualizing the events that have been taking place since the beginning of the revolutions, this paper will try to clarify if the role of the terrorist groups was a decisive factor in the direction of the protests that began in 2011, as well as to make a descriptive and comparative analysis of Syria and Yemen, to contemplate the differences that were taking place on the impact of jihadism, trying to find the reason that explains these differences based on the descriptive analysis previously made.
