El mosaico del circo documentado en Itálica
/
Rueda i Roigé, Francesc-Josep de (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament d'Art i de Musicologia)
[...] This paper focuses on one of the most emblematic Roman pavements found in the city of Italica. Although it is now completely lost, the drawings and descriptions performed in ancient times allows, with caution, to situate it in its original context and to tackle its reconstruction. [...]

/
Rubiera Mata, Mª Jesús (Universitat d'Alacant)
[...] This article studies the origin of bird figures that appear on one of the mosques of the Islamic monastery (Caliphate Rabita) located in the dunes at Guardamar del Segura (Alicante, Spain). Their origin must be sought in Islamic beliefs about the afterlife, since according to a tradition attributed to Mohammed, the souls of martyrs rest in the crops of green birds in Paradise until the Final Judgement Day.
[...] This article analizes the image of purgatory in Catalan art during the later Middle Ages. The first representations of Purgatory, based solely on fire as a purifying element, give way to typologies that use resourses derived from the image of hell. [...]

El claustro de San Pedro el Viejo de Huesca : Pascua, Bautismo y Reconquista
/
Rico Camps, Daniel (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Departament d'Art i de Musicologia)
[...] The cloister of San Pedro el Viejo de Huesca displays an organic and united iconographical program which claims for a lecture in topographical and cartographical terms. Its paschal sense is highly related with the main use of the cloister as graveyard and integrates two capitals with historical and baptismal themes that could be also connected with the aims, temporal and spiritual, of the priory.
[...] This work revises and updates the opinion expressed in 1989 in L'arquitectura dels templers a Catalunya, about the seat of the Temple commandery of Barcelona. The recently updated documental and bibliography has not only underlined the importance of the site, but (following a careful analysis of the pros and cons) has also brought to light the fact that it was in fact the Templars who created the famous «sala dels Cavalls», traditionally attributed to Pere III. El mestre Bartomeu de Girona
/
[...] Despite the late datation of his work (basically the third quarter of the xiii century), the Master Bartomeu of Gerona continues to be the oldest recorded Catalonian gothic sculptor known to us. This study aims to provide a detailed analysis of the existing monuments, proposing, for example, more complex structures for the tombs of Guillem of Montgrí and Pere the Great or for the identification of the sample sculpture of the portal of Tarragona (Saint Peter).
[...] This important aprt of Góngora's poetry which aims at the witty and refined praise of the members of the high aristocracy and of the princes of the church, in most cases avoids the oratory or narrative resources of eulogy, and applies to pure poetic devices.
[...] The old Town Hall of Santiago de Compostela in Cervantes Square is the oldest municipal seat kept in Galicia. La polychromie baroque en Roussillon
/
[...] In the Roussillon region, the important number of well-preserved baroque altarpieces (1650- 1730) has only been studied from the sculptural aspect. This article wishes to lay the basis for a study of gilding and polychromy on these works, putting the emphasis on the geographical origins of the gilders and on the location of their workshops in the Province; on their working methods; on the different types of activities involved and on the manners the works they used to produce were ordered.
